Cambodian Communities out of Crisis

Urgent Needs

Dump Kids

Children from the dump being supported

We urgently need sponsors for our Dump Kids project.

For just £6 a week you could ensure that a child whose family scavenges on Phnom Penh's rubbish dump can go to school, receive a nourishing meal each school day, and have chance of getting a proper job away from the dump when he or she grows up.

Students

College fees in Cambodia are increasing and it is becoming harder and harder for us to keep up the payments that will ensure that students whom we are sponsoring can complete their courses. We believe it is vital for these young people to finish their education and not give up because of a lack of money to pay their fees. A regular gift from you of £7 a week would keep a student in college for a year.

Orphans

Children at the Help for the Poor orphanage

Pastor Lim Vuthy runs the Help for the Poor Orphanage just outside Phnom Penh, caring for 27 children, 22 of primary school age and five at secondary school. One of the orphanage's donors has had to give up supporting it and Pastor Vuthy has asked us to help.

A one-off gift of £200 would buy enough soap, toothpaste and shampoo for all the orphans for a year. £4 a week would pay for the children's school uniforms. Any gift — large or small, one-off or regular — would help make a difference to these needy children's lives.

Where to go next

We all know about rising prices and the credit crunch. We are all having to be careful about how we spend our money. Some of us face fuel poverty. Others are concerned about a drop in the value of our houses. But compared to most people in Cambodia we are still very well-off. Could you help one of the dump kids, an orphan or one of the young people we are sending to college, even if it means sacrificing a luxury item or putting off buying something that is not an urgent need? Please contact us for more information or go to our Giving page to find out how you can make a donation.
