God Provides

Several times in 2009 the CCC Council wondered whether we would have enough money to maintain our education and Dump Kids projects. However, every time we have had to send money to Cambodia, God has ensured that sufficient funds have been able. We praise Him for His goodness and trust Him to provide in 2010.

News about Cambodia

First Khmer Rouge Trial Draws to a Close

The court has completed its hearing of evidence in the trial of Kaing Guek Eav (Duch). A verdict is expected early in 2010.

Meanwhile, the acting international co-prosecutor, William Smith of Australia, has formally recommended that five more suspects be investigated for crimes against humanity and other offences.

Cambodia-Thai Relations

Although tension has eased along the Cambodia-Thai border, diplomatic relations between the two countries have sunk to a new low since Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen offered fugitive former Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra a job as an economic adviser and a home just across the border. Thaksin has since spent five days in Cambodia, infuriating the Thai government.

A Thai engineer working for the Thai-ownded Cambodia Air Traffic Services was accused of sending Thaksin's flight schedule to a Thai diplomat, who was expelled by Phnom Penh. The engineer received a royal pardon before going to trial and was repatriated to Thailand.
